NEW… Assist in the development of business education partnerships in Wayne/Pike Counties and Monroe County as part of Wall Street West initiative. Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Skills in Scranton through a series of year long activities. Advance the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Initiative (STEM) in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Establish the Lackawanna County Community Education Council to organize industry specific training programs.
Ongoing:
Promote career awareness programs in electronics and healthcare to 7th-12th grade students. Facilitate the retention of our 18–35 year old population and the development of skilled workers through the Work&Play in Northeast PA effort.
Build regional partnerships between business and education through programs such as the Computer Contest and Community Reading Day.
Encourage and foster the development of leadership skills in students from the junior class of secondary schools by conducting "Tomorrow's Leaders Today".
Organize and stage Job Fair 2010 to match employers with job seekers, as well as develop career and skills awareness.
Build relationships between business and education by awarding Mini-Grants to teachers for career oriented projects directly involving students.
