Honesdale National Bank Announces Commitment to Streetscape with Addition of Mural

The Honesdale National Bank (HNB) is partnering with a local artist to contribute to the ongoing beautification of downtown Honesdale. Committed to elevating the downtown’s offerings and experience, a vibrant mural will grace the Church Street façade of the Bank’s flagship office at 733 Main Street.

“I firmly believe that the best investments we make are in the communities we serve,” stated Thomas E. Sheridan Jr., President, and CEO at HNB. He continued, “Together, we have the power to shape our communities and create experiences that truly make our area a great place to live, work, and play.”

At the forefront of this endeavor is a thoughtful design that seamlessly melds a contemporary depiction of Honesdale’s rich heritage. Each element of the beautification project pays homage to the town’s storied past while embracing a forward-looking approach to urban development.

The project was realized in response to Honesdale’s designation as a Keystone’s Communities Main Street through the State of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). As the town evolves and creates paths for generations to come, the rejuvenation of Main Street serves as a testament to the Bank’s unwavering commitment to development and collaboration.

The artist behind this spirited project, locally renowned muralist Jeff George, stated, “”It’s always an honor when I’m asked to help with the Honesdale streetscape. Helping The Honesdale National Bank share some of their heritage with our community is a privilege.”

The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2024. The impact of this collaboration extends far beyond mere aesthetics. By enhancing the curb appeal of its Main Street Office, the project is meant to inspire continued investment in cultivating Honesdale’s interests in serving as a premier destination and point of pride for residents.

“We see the mural as a visualization and call-to-action for all local businesses, community partners, and residents to contribute to our town’s story and have appreciation for all it affords us,” says Sheridan.

HNB has been a sponsor of other local mural projects in Forest City made possible through The Honesdale National Bank Foundation.
