FNCB Bank Names New Nanticoke Community Office Manager

FNCB Bank, locally-based since 1910, today announced the promotion of Nicole Nevel to Nanticoke Community Office Manager, where she will be responsible for the daily operations of the branch, as well as generating new business and providing excellent customer service.

“We are delighted to have Nicole lead our Nanticoke Community Office,” said Deborah Kennedy, FNCB Bank Vice-President, Retail Market Manager. “She is very familiar with the Nanticoke community and possesses all the qualities and characteristics to serve our customers and staff well.”

Prior to her promotion, Mrs. Nevel served as a Personal Banker in the Nanticoke Office. Before joining FNCB Bank, she was a teller, head teller, PBR, and acting assistant manager at First National Bank, along with serving as a Veterinary Technician at Sweet Valley Veterinary Clinic.

She is a graduate of Northwest Area Junior Senior High School and Allied Medical and Technical Careers where she received an Animal Care Technician diploma. As an active member of the community, she has volunteered for numerous causes including as a girl scout leader for eight years. She resides in Ross Township, Shickshinny with her husband Phillip “Rick” Nevel and children Corey Lynn, Kylie Ann, and Benjamin.

FNCB Bank Announces Scholarship Winners

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, is pleased to announce the winners of the FNCB Bank Foundation merit scholarship awards for the 2022-2023 academic year. Overall, the foundation awarded $1,000 scholarships to five area high school seniors based on their academic excellence, community and school involvement, and citizenship.

This year’s winners are Grace Bath of Abington Heights High School, Faith Bennett of Abington Heights High School, Isabella Giardina of Pittston Area Senior High School, Donnell Greene of Wyoming Valley West High School, and Caroline Klinkiewicz of Honesdale High School. Ms. Bath will be attending Messiah University, Ms. Bennett will be attending American University, Ms. Giardina will be attending the University of Pittsburgh, Mr. Greene will be attending New York University, and Ms. Klinkiewicz will be attending the University of Delaware.

FNCB Bank Donates Scoreboard to Greater Pittston Area Little League

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, is pleased to announce our latest project supporting the community with a $6,000 grant awarded to the Greater Pittston Area Little League for the purchase and installation of a scoreboard at their Duryea Little League field.

FNCB Bank Donates $15,000 to Friendship House

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, today announced a $15,000 Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program/Special Program Priorities (NAP-SPP) donation to the Friendship House for their downtown Scranton building renovation project.

The project, which encompasses the Murray Building at 413-415 Biden St. and the Davidow Building at 200-216 Wyoming Ave., when completed, is expected to house substance abuse, mental health and pharmacy services for the community.

“The services Friendship House provides are a great benefit to our community,” said Jerry Champi, FNCB Bank President and CEO. “Our downtown Scranton Community Office is adjacent to the Friendship House’s new location and we are excited to witness the rebirth of two well-known buildings in the city.”

FNCB Bank Donates $2,500 to the Keystone Mission

FNCB Bank, through the FNCB Bank Charitable Foundation, today announced a $2,500 donation to Keystone Mission for their Code Blue Emergency Shelter program.

The Code Blue Shelter is an emergency shelter that serves people who are homeless and who might otherwise remain unsheltered during periods of extreme winter weather throughout Lackawanna and Luzerne County. A “Code Blue” alert is issued when the forecast temperature, including wind chills, is expected to reach 20 degrees or lower, or a foot or more of snow, according to AccuWeather.

FNCB Bank Donates to Hazleton YMCA Project

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, today announced a $10,000 Neighborhood Assistance Program/Special Program Priorities (NAP-SPP) donation to the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA for their Hazleton YMCA Childcare Center Revitalization Project.

The project, when completed, is expected to provide daycare and early childhood education services to the underserved population in Hazleton.

FNCB Bank Promotes Karen Smith to Senior Vice President

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, today announced that Karen M. Smith has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager III.

In her new role, Ms. Smith will be responsible for managing commercial relationships, as well as developing referral relationships and conducting various sales-related activities.

She joined FNCB Bank in 2000 as a teller and has held numerous positions in her more than 20-year career. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Commercial Officer.

Ms. Smith is a graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School and King’s College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Finance. She earned a MBA from Misericordia University where she was inducted into the Misericordia University Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society. She completed Leadership Lackawanna for Leadership Fundamentals and the PA Bankers Advanced School of Commercial Lending and is NMLS licensed. An active member of the community, she is a past board member of the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce and a member of the FNCB Cares Committee.

She resides in Jenkins Township with her daughter Kayla.

FNCB Bank Invests in Scranton Project

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, today announced an $11,013,953 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Investment for the Scranton Square Apartments project through the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA).

The project, located on Dickson Ave. in the Green Ridge section of Scranton, will consist of 36 newly constructed senior housing units. Of the 36 units, 32 are slated to be one bedroom and four are two bedrooms. The units will be affordable to low-income households falling below various levels of the area median income (AMI).

“The need for affordable, safe and accessible housing is great in our community,” said Jerry Champi, FNCB Bank President and CEO. “This project will not only provide much needed housing for low-income senior citizens, but it is also redeveloping a large vacant lot in the city. FNCB Bank is pleased to be a partner on this project by providing a significant portion of the total cost.”

Additional partners include Quandel Construction Group as the general contractor, and the project’s developer, QSP Development, which is a Quandel Enterprises affiliate.

FNCB Bank Toys for Tots Drive Yields Hundreds of Toys for Area Children

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, is pleased to announce they recently held a bank-wide Toys for Tots drive that yielded hundreds of toys for children in Northeast Pennsylvania.

The drive was conducted in all 16 community offices as well as FNCB’s Corporate Centers in Dunmore.

Midge MacArthur, FNCB Bank Dunmore Community Office Manager, spearheaded the project.

“The generosity of our customers and employees is truly incredible,” said MacArthur. “Every year we do this, the number of toys donated increases. It’s because of this generosity, that many kids in NEPA will have a brighter holiday season.”
