Six Munley Law lawyers named to 2022 Best Lawyers list

Marion Munley Named 2022 “Lawyer of the Year, Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs”

Munley Law is pleased to announce that Marion Munley has been named “Lawyer of the Year, Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs,” Northeastern Pennsylvania, by Best Lawyers. Marion has been named to the “Best Lawyers in America” list every year since 2012.

Marion is the second woman in Pennsylvania to become Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Among her other professional affiliations are the American Board of Trial Advocates,the International Society of Barristers, and the Summit Council, an exclusive group of today’s top civil justice attorneys committed to the highest levels of trial advocacy, to obtaining justice for individuals and families who have been hurt by corporate wrongdoing, and to the protection of the civil justice system.

Marion Munley Re-elected to Executive Committee of the American Association for Justice

At its annual convention this month, Marion Munley was re-elected to the Executive Committee of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) for the 2021-2022 year. In addition, she received two awards in recognition of her service to AAJ.

AAJ “is a broad-based, international coalition of attorneys, law professors, paralegals, and law students which promotes justice and fairness for injured persons, safeguards victims’ rights—particularly the right to trial by jury—and strengthens the civil justice system through education and disclosure of information critical to public health and safety. With members worldwide, and a network of U.S. and Canadian affiliates involved in diverse areas of trial advocacy, AAJ provides lawyers with the information and professional assistance needed to serve clients successfully and protect the democratic values inherent in the civil justice system.”

Marion received the Distinguished Service award which recognizes members of AAJ Board of Governors who, during the past year, have been of special assistance to the President of the Association. She also earned the Above and Beyond Award which honors AAJ members who have made exceptional contributions to sustain and strengthen the organization.

Munley Law is pleased to announce that attorney Marion Munley recently spoke at the Attorneys Information Exchange Group’s (AIEG) 2020 Virtual Symposium on trucking accident litigation. She gave a virtual presentation on “Setting Up Your Trial Story.” The AIEG is “a national organization dedicated to sharing information and ideas among member attorneys for the benefit of clients who have been affected by dangerous and defective products.”

2021 ATHENA Leadership Award Recipient Announced

Marion embodies the character of the ATHENA Award, which honors an exceptional individual who has achieved excellence in their business or profession, has served the community in a meaningful way and has assisted women in their attainment of professional goals and leadership skills.

For more than 30 years, Marion has made her mark in the male-dominated area of trucking law as a dedicated and skilled litigator, taking lead on some of Pennsylvania’s largest and groundbreaking legal victories. For a decade Marion provided free legal services to those in need at the Hope Center for Northeastern Pennsylvania. She has supported Lackawanna Pro Bono for more than 20 years, sponsors scholarships at the University of Scranton, Marywood University and Johnson College, as well as contributes to many other local charitable organizations.

Marion mentors young women aspiring to or beginning a career in law. Particularly at Munley Law, she makes herself available for advice and questions and ensures they have a role in the firm’s big cases, local networking events, and national conferences. In 2020, Marion received the AAJ’s Marie Lambert Award for her commitment to the legal profession, her community, and the advancement of women in law.

The ATHENA Award was first presented in 1982 in Lansing, Michigan and has grown to include presentations to more than 5,000 individuals in hundreds of cities in the United States as well as in Canada, China, Russia and the United Kingdom. The award takes the form of a hand-cast bronze sculpture symbolizing the strength, courage and wisdom of the recipient. Truck Accident Lawyer Marion Munley Named to Board of Regents for National Trucking Safety Group

Munley Law is pleased to announce that Marion Munley has been named to the Board of Regents for the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys (ATAA).

The ATAA is a leading non-profit trucking safety advocate organization which counts more than 600 attorney and legal professional members across the United States. The ATAA is dedicated to promoting safety and accountability in the trucking industry by representing clients injured or killed in crashes involving tractor-trailers. Members of ATAA are also committed to the training, education and assistance of member lawyers who seek to learn how to better handle truck crash cases.
