FNCB Bank Invests in Scranton Project

FNCB Bank, locally based since 1910, today announced an $11,013,953 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Investment for the Scranton Square Apartments project through the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA).

The project, located on Dickson Ave. in the Green Ridge section of Scranton, will consist of 36 newly constructed senior housing units. Of the 36 units, 32 are slated to be one bedroom and four are two bedrooms. The units will be affordable to low-income households falling below various levels of the area median income (AMI).

“The need for affordable, safe and accessible housing is great in our community,” said Jerry Champi, FNCB Bank President and CEO. “This project will not only provide much needed housing for low-income senior citizens, but it is also redeveloping a large vacant lot in the city. FNCB Bank is pleased to be a partner on this project by providing a significant portion of the total cost.”

Additional partners include Quandel Construction Group as the general contractor, and the project’s developer, QSP Development, which is a Quandel Enterprises affiliate.

Scranton Square Project is part of FNCB’s larger Community Caring initiative. As a true, local community bank, FNCB is making a difference through volunteerism, donations, and outreach programs.

Interstate 81, Section 511 Reconstruction Project Projects Virtual Plans Displays

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), announces Online Plans Displays for the upcoming changes to the Interstate 81, Section 511 Reconstruction Project in Great Bend Borough/Township and New Milford Borough/Township, Susquehanna County.

In accordance with Governor Wolf’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts, the comment period and plan display will be held online only. The comment period will be open from July 1st to July 15th, 2021.

The virtual plans display includes digital picture boards and an online comment form for four specific areas that require environmental re-evaluation from the previously approved Categorical Exclusion Evaluation (CEE), Level 2 environmental document dated 03/21/2018. The plans displays can be accessed by visiting the PennDOT District 4 Website: www.pennDOT.gov/regionaloffices/district-4/, clicking on Public Meetings under District Links, choosing the tile for Susquehanna County and then selecting the tile for Interstate 81, Section 511 Reconstruction Project. The purpose of the plans displays is to introduce the changes to the project since the CEE approval obtained on 03/21/2018, and to receive public input regarding questions or concerns with these latest changes to the project.  It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon Cultural Resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

North Main Projects Virtual Plans Displays and Public Meeting

Blue Zones Project Community Transformation Presentation

Valley In Motion, a non-profit based in Mayfield, PA, is leading a coalition of health care organizations, foundations, and others to help NEPA become a Blue Zones Community.

“Blue Zones” are places where entire communities live significantly longer, healthier, and more active lives. A National Geographic study identified the commonalities across the Blue Zones areas that have led to their longevity and vitality. More than 50 communities across the United States have started the journey to become a Blue Zones Community. We’d like NEPA to be next.

This transformation is a large, multi-disciplinary effort that involves the entire community – schools, restaurants, grocery stores, government, businesses, faith-based organizations, and individuals. It works if we all get behind it.

As a leader in our community, we are thrilled to invite you to participate in an input session that will help the Blue Zones Project team learn more about NEPA and how employers are supporting employee wellbeing across NEPA. We ask for your help in representing employers in your region and sharing your ideas about the unique strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improving well-being in our community.
