WRC Receives Grant from the Scranton Area Community Foundation The WRC (Women’s Resource Center) is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous $15,000 Community Needs Grant from the Scranton Area Community Foundation. The SACF utilizes Community Needs grants to enhance the quality of life in Lackawanna County by supporting nonprofit programs in a variety of fields including education. The Empowering Youth through Healthy Relationships grant will significantly enhance WRC’s prevention education programs focused on healthy relationships including friendships that is offered in schools across the county. Last year, WRC reached over 2,500 elementary, middle, and high school students. This cherished tradition serves as a fundraiser for the Women’s Resource Center, marking its remarkable 34th year. Join us on Thursday, May 2nd at 5:30 pm at the Scranton Cultural Center for an exquisite evening that promises a culinary journey like no other, showcasing high-end appetizer samplings from renowned area restaurants. As guests indulge in delectable bites, they’ll be surrounded by the elegant ambiance inspired by the iconic Tiffany blue color, adding a touch of sophistication to the affair. Prepare to be dazzled as we come together to support a worthy cause while savoring the finest flavors our community has to offer.
The Women’s Resource Center to Host Santa’s Snippers Santa’s Snippers is back and so are the professional area stylists! The Women’s Resource Center Association has scheduled its 32nd Annual Santa’s Snippers Cut-A-Thon for Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Career Technology Center (CTC) of Lackawanna County located at 3201 Rockwell Avenue, Scranton (across from Schiff’s). While the CTC and its students will be hosting our event, Professional Licensed hair stylists from area salons and barbershops will donate their time and talent that day providing all of the haircuts. Haircuts are $15 and all of the proceeds go toward providing our survivors the resources they need to escape abuse. Walk-ins are Welcome! Guest Stylists are from all over the area including Sanderson Salon, Loyalty Barber Shop, and more!
